Strong professional ethics involves more than just telling the truth or avoiding activities that are morally wrong.  Here are eight qualities that the most respected and successful people in business exude every day:

  • Respect: trust, patience, empathy, fairness, good listening, straight talk
  • Honor: strong performance, follow through, honesty, gratitude, sharing
  • Integrity: not lying, cheating, stealing, or concealing information, keeping confidences, owning up
  • Results-oriented: efficiency, thoroughness, impact, value-based decisions
  • Proficiency: knowing your job, learning, asking for feedback
  • Risk-taking: innovation, thinking outside the box, trying new things, analysis
  • Passion: loving what you do, making a difference, going the extra mile
  • Persistence: doing what’s best when times are tough, not giving up until goals are met

Any others you can think of?
