Johnson Controls, Inc. is engaged in the building efficiency business and automotive supplies' business. Its automotive seating and interior systems business operates under the name interior experience. Johnson Controls, Inc. operates in three primary business segments: building efficiency, interior experience and power solutions. Building efficiency provides facility systems and services, including comfort, energy and security management for the non-residential buildings market. Interior experience designs and manufactures interior systems and products for passenger cars and light trucks, including vans, pick-up trucks and sport utility vehicles. Power solutions designs and manufactures automotive batteries for the replacement and original equipment markets. In February 2005, the Company completed the sale of its engine electronics business, included in the interior experience segment (Europe). For the nine months ended 30 June 2006, Johnson Controls, Inc.'s revenues increased 17% to $24.09B. Net income from continuing operations increased 43% to $665M. Revenues reflect the higher building efficiency sales and increase in power solutions income. Net income benefited from the improved gross margins, higher equity income, a decrease in restructuring cost and a benefit for income tax vs. a provision.
