Casey's General Stores, Inc. (Casey's) and its wholly owned subsidiaries operate convenience stores under the name Casey's General Store in nine Midwest states, primarily Iowa, Missouri and Illinois. The stores carry a selection of food (including freshly prepared foods such as pizza, donuts, and sandwiches), beverages, tobacco products, health and beauty aids, automotive products and other non-food items. In addition, all stores offer gasoline for sale on a self-service basis. On April 30, 2006, there were a total of 1,413 Casey's General Stores in operation, of which 1,394 were operated by the Company (Corporate Stores) and 19 stores were operated by franchisees (Franchise Stores). The Company operates a central warehouse, the Casey's Distribution Center, adjacent to its corporate headquarters facility in Ankeny, Iowa, through which it supplies grocery and general merchandise items to Corporate and Franchise Stores. For the fiscal year ended 30 April 2006, Casey's General Stores, Inc.'s revenues rose 25% to $3.52B. Net income from continuing operations and before accounting change rose 49% to $62.9M. Revenues reflect an increase in sales of Gasoline, grocery & Other Merchandise and Prepared Food & Fountain segments. Net income also reflects higher gross margins and an decrease in net interest expense.
