iBasis, Inc. is a provider of international communications services and a provider of retail prepaid calling services. The Company operates in two segments: voice-over Internet protocol (VoIP) trading business (Trading), in which it connects buyers and sellers of international telecommunications services, and its retail services business (Retail). Its Retail business consists of retail prepaid calling cards and Pingo, a prepaid calling service sold to consumers through an e-commerce interface. As of December 31, 2005, iBasis provided services to approximately 391 carriers worldwide. For the three months ended 31 March 2006, iBasis, Inc.'s revenues increased 25% to $110.8M. Net income totaled $1.6M, up from $190K. Revenues reflect contributions from both Trading and Retail segments. Net income also reflects lower depreciation & amortization expense, higher interest expense, decreased interest expense due to conversion of secured notes to common stock and lower foreign exchange loss.
