DUTIES: Provide skilled nursing care for the incarcerated offender in either and outpatient clinic, infirmary or specialized cellhouse setting for acute care, chronic support and emergency interventions as indicated. Deliver patient care to offenders diagnosis and needs. Provide physical care and treatment, administer medication, collaborate on treatment plans, employ infection control measures, provide referral to appropriate Clinical Services staff for new arrivals. Perform crisis intervention, interview and triage offenders and perform instruction and orientation according to nursing protocols, licensure and training. Document in an accurate and timely manner to provide comprehensive offender medical records which include documentation of offender behaviors, progress, physical condition, response to therapies and medication, education and teaching, and flow sheets. Provide patient education using established nursing guidelines including demonstrating and explaining self-care techniques, anticipating possible complications of treatments, informing about desired and undesirable side effects of medication and treatments.
