San Diego State University’s School of Theatre, Television, and Film seeks a candidate to serve in a leadership capacity as Head of Acting. Position includes: instruction in undergraduate acting programs, curriculum development, advising, and leadership within an increasingly interdisciplinary program and campus. Ongoing professional activity and leadership in the area of acting are expected. Candidate will possibly teach Acting I, II, & III, advanced styles in acting and directing (classical or contemporary), Auditioning, and Acting on Camera. We encourage applicants who will bring diverse perspectives to teaching acting, including race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation and/or gender expression/identity. The successful candidate will be joining a school with a broad-based approach to teaching acting; a requirement for a student international experience; and high-quality student performance opportunities in musical theatre, the classics, modern plays, theatre for youth, television, and film. Graduates from the current program go on to graduate school, professional careers as performers, and begin their own theatre companies.
