The Director of Sponsored Research (“Director”) for Burnham Institute for Medical Research at Lake Nona (Orlando, FL) is responsible for providing leadership, direction and oversight for the Sponsored Research (“SRO”) function including, policies, procedures, funding opportunities, proposal development, review, submission, negotiation and award acceptance.  The Director reports to the Chief Financial Officer –Lake Nona.  The Director is responsible for all pre and post-award administrative activities at the Lake Nona site.  Other activities include coordinating submissions to the regulatory review committees (i.e. Institutional Review Board (“IRB”), Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (“IACUC”), and Institutional Bio-safety Committee (“IBC”).

Required Skills

The Director must have an understanding of the attitudes and objectives of those who perform research, have superior oral and written communication skills, and be a 'hands on' professional who is willing to do any and all tasks required to get the job done.  Strong managerial, supervisory and administrative ability, excellent interpersonal skills, and spreadsheet analysis are essential requirements.
