Partnering with the Buyer, the associate buyer will be responsible for selecting and evaluating product for a specific department of merchandise to achieve sales and margin objectives.  By pursuing an in-depth understanding of customer needs and desires, she or he will assist in developing an assortment plan (to include merchandising, pricing, and advertising) that drives the profitability of the departments.

The associate buyer will also help to drive the expansion of said departments by researching marketplace trends and pursuing the development of products that satisfy growing and emerging consumer needs, and by analyzing competitive assortment and marketing strategies to determine how to increase Toys R Us' share of the total market.  She or he will also work closely with the R Us Brands team to increase the sales of our private brands within department goals.  The associate buyer will establish and maintain positive and constructive vendor relationships, and will be responsible for negotiating with vendors on the availability and distribution of merchandise, delivery deadlines, and allowances as needed.
