House Counsel I · Roseville, MN
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides legal representation to Progressive's insureds and Progressive in lower exposure and/or lower complexity cases. This is an entry level position.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
% of Time
100% Responsible for handling lower exposure and/or lower complexity cases with close supervision of the managing attorney and/or other senior level trial attorney.
- Develops litigation skills, including the ability to try a basic or uncomplicated case.
- Directs support staff in the completion of tasks.
- Counsels and advises clients
- Makes routine court appearances
- Conducts basic discovery and investigation
- Prepares and tries basic cases
- Expected to develop strong customer and client relationships.
- Works towards gaining an understanding of the insurance business, and particularly the Progressive business model.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Juris Doctorate required
- Member of the Bar in jurisdiction(s) served by specific House Counsel office(s)
- 0 + years of legal experience/training
- Excellent client/customer skills
- Basic computer proficiency
