Role synopsis This position reports to the Managing IP Attorney, Group R&T / Alternative Energy, who in turn reports to the Chief Intellectual Property Counsel, Associate General Counsel. The analyst will be a member of BP’s Global Patent and Technology Law group (approximately 25 IP attorneys), with members in Warrenville, IL; Houston, TX; and Sunbury on Thames, UK. The GPTL group is part of BP’s Intellectual Property practice, which also includes the Trademark team. This position will be the only agent in the GPTL group in Warrenville, among a group of approximately 10 IP attorneys and 27 other attorneys in the Warrenville office. Occasional travel from IL to Houston and the UK may be required.
Key accountabilities This role will serve all of BP’s businesses. The position is responsible for a broad array of patent functions, including:
• Conducting patent analysis using a variety of information sources, emerging technology tools and strategies for enhanced search/mining and visualization of results
