DUTIES:This position as a Mitigation Specialist will assume mitigation planning duties which are essential for promoting and implementing multi-hazard programs. This will require working with communities to ensure all FEMA planning requirements are met before local mitigation plans are reviewed at the state and federal levels for compliance. This position will also be required to facilitate meetings and coordinate with local, state, federal, private, and nonprofit organizations. Duties include: assist communities and state agencies with developing grant applications for plans and nonconstruction activities; identify hazards and impacts; facilitate local plan development and process when necessary; conduct assigned state Hazard Mitigation plan update activities; review, evaluate, and comment on local mitigation plans for compliance with FEMA requirements; assist communities with getting plans adopted; and assist communities with post disaster planning.
